Description: The Sphinx Realty Company building, at 537 North Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles, California, built in the shape of the head of a sphinx. The business was no longer operating from this site when the photograph was made, as it shows a "For Rent" sign on the door.
Title devised by cataloger. Research shows this building was built in the early 1920s. Date approximated by cataloger based on general business history; Los Angeles City directories show Harry L. Buttrey operating a real estate business at the address into the 1940s.
