Description
I.O. “Jolly” Jahlstrom spent 37 years as a Bridge Engineer for the Division of Highways, from 1927 to 1965. He retired as Principal Bridge Engineer-Operations in 1965. He was the Resident Engineer on several major bridge construction projects including then Bixby Creek Arch Bridge and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge substructure and superstructure for the twin suspension spans of the West Bay Crossing.
