Description
Photograph of a panoramic view of the northwest extension of the Burkburnett Oil Field in Texas, ca.1920. Hundreds of tapered oil derricks are visible across the entire image. Dirt roads wind their way over gently rolling terrain between the wells. Many small shacks, tents, and cylindrical tanks can be seen in the oil field as well. An early automobile can be seen at right, and a small number of people are visible scattered throughout the image. Points labeled on the image include, from left: "Noble-Livingston No. 1", "Banner Oil & Gas Co. No. 1", "Margray", "B.B. Oil Co.", "Roberts & Hill", and "Company No. 7".
