Photograph caption dated April 22, 1961 reads "In the course of a normal day the Public Libraries of the Valley play host to a full cross section of the population. In the first picture youngsters listen raptly to a story-telling session. Teenagers, in the second picture, researching their homework, find time for a moment's rendezvous while thumbing through the card index. James Handy, in picture three, works for the Department of Water and Power and is studying at night to become an engineer. The reference books at the Public Library are invaluable to him. In the last picture, Harold Weaver, a salesman, forgets his cares in the quiet of the reading room. 'It pulls up my morale,' says Weaver. The trained staffs of the Regional and Branch Libraries in the Valley are truly 'all things to all people.'"; See images #00131261 through #00131264 for all photos in this series.
