"Waiting for the canoes, ferry of the Mangòro R." Charles Jukes standing on river bank with Malagasy bearers and luggage. Jukes served in Madagascar from 1866 to 1901, making a tour to the East Coast in 1877. One of around 360 prints from various sources mounted and indexed in folders. Probably used for reference and publication by London Missionary Society headquarters.
