Risley, 26, charged with the manslaughter death of 7-year-old Patrick Burns, as he stands with his wife (left) and mother. Burns was killed when the automobile Risley was driving struck him at the intersection of Ninth and Valencia streets, throwing him 159 feet away. Witnesses say Risley ignored the crossing guard's "Stop" sign and plowed through, hitting young Burns. Photograph dated November 14, 1947.
