Description
Mortimer J. Adler discusses his book, “We Hold These Truths.” He begins by explaining how the Declaration of Independence helped the 13 original American colonies break away from English rule. He talks about how Thomas Jefferson was influenced by the Virginian Bill of Rights. He describes how the Constitution helped people and the government conduct business together fairly. Adler talks about what it means to be a citizen of the United States. He ends the interview by discussing how American democracy was modeled after ancient Athens under the rule of Pericles.
