Title supplied by cataloger. The religion of Lutheranism is a major branch of Protestant Christianity that identifies with the teachings of Martin Luther, a German monk and theologian who sought to reform the practices of the Roman Catholic Church in the 16th century. Today, nearly 70 million Christians belong to Lutheran churches worldwide. Photo shows the main entrance to Hollywood Lutheran Church, located at 1733 N. New Hampshire Ave. It is painted light beige with darker tan trim and has towers on either side of it, with a cross sitting atop the left tower. Adjacent buildings (not seen from this angle) appear to be part of the church, but are painted a light orange with red-tiled roof. Hollywood Lutheran Church was founded on May 29, 1921 and its present home was built three years later, in 1924 at a cost of $70,000. In 1937 the Sunday school building was constructed, and in the 1940s it was enlarged. Photo dated: June 2004.
