Photograph article dated August 1, 1963 partially reads, "Two young heavyweights with excellent recommendations, Thad Spencer and Jefferson Davis, headline tonight's boxing program at the Olympic Auditorium. The 20-year-old Spencer is hailed by Joe Louis as a better prospect than Cassius Clay, while Davis was touted by the late Jack (Doc) Kearns as a future title contender." Photograph caption reads, "Jeff Davis fights Thad Spencer tonight - Late Jack Kearns liked Jeff's prospects."
