Image of Battle of Perryville, Kentucky, in 1862 during the American Civil War; Union and Confederate army lines exchange fire across a cornfield.
Tinted and hand colored. "Attempt of the Rebels under Cheathem to turn the Left Flank. The Rebels Charge on a Battery and are repulsed by the 21st Wisconsin. The 21st lost 41 killed and 101 wounded."--text, bottom centered. "Sketched by A. E. Mathews, 31st O. V. I."--text, bottom centered. "Lithographed by Middleton, Strobridge & Col, Cincinnati."--text, bottom right.
