Description
Annotation translation: "The many guests coming from elsewhere approach in large boats with decorations and many flags. They are bringing their gifts to the ceremony: Lalohan. They approach with ecstatic cries, and shouts, and festival noise [sic]. The are received [by people] shooting off guns and shouting loudly. Those approaching, and those receiving them, throw Suli at each other. With the Lalohan the "Soul game" (oesik liau) takes place. This is done to give pleasure to the dead. The guests from elsewhere sometimes wear masks. There are masked figures where the ceremonies will take place, too. There are male masks, and female masks. When the masks arrive the temperature of the gathering rises, so that many people are afraid to mix with those celebrating."
