School built in 1870 and destroyed by fire; known as Vallejo Grammar School or Vallejo High School. Was on Carolina Street. Image shows school on right, two houses to left, bordered by sidewalk, trees and lamppost.
James Topley came to Vallejo in 1852 eventually running drugstore. He was amateur photographer, taking pictures of Vallejo beginning in 1850's. After his death, his sons James Henry and William Henry continued photographing Vallejo into 1920's. $
