View of two-story wood frame building; Amos Stevens (son of T.A.) standing in front by a horse, carriage at left; sign for boarding and livery, hay and grain; fenced area behind the stable below a hill; other buildings behind the stable. In 1933, the building is occupied by McCleary Garage and the office of the Auburn Lumber Co.

Truman Allen Stevens was born in 1814, Maine. Arrived in California via the Isthmus in 1859, settling in Iowa Hill and Colfax. Worked at ranching, teaming, mail carrying, livery stable.
