Description
View 1 (1989-1279). -- view 2 (1989-1280). In: [Scenes of Sacramento] [manuscript] / Eugene Walter Hepting. [Sacramento, Calif. : E. Hepting, 1938?], Vol. C, leaf 35. Corner view of a 3 story wooden structure; on left is short side and on right the long side; in front of the 1st floor on the short side is a one story addition with windows on the two visible sides; above that addition 5 windows on 2nd & 3rd floor of main structure can be seen - above 2nd floor windows is a round arched pediment and above 3rd floor windows a triangular pediment; same 2nd & 3rd floor windows are on long side as well; cars parked in front at sidewalk and chain fencing surrounds the grounds; palm tree at extreme right. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Present building erected in 1875." "The Sisters of Mercy, held their first school here on this location in the year 1857".
