Photograph was edited for publication purposes John H. Francis Polytechnic High School opened in 1905, a satellite of Los Angeles High School. It is the second oldest high school in the city. Originally located in Downtown Los Angeles, in February 1957 Polytechnic moved to its present site at 12430 Roscoe Boulevard, in Sun Valley. Former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley was an alumnus. Photograph caption dated March 3, 1961 reads "These 12 sets of twins represent only a sampling of the unusually large number of twins who have been attending Polytechnic in Sun Valley in recent months. Last term there were 27 sets of them. School officials so far this semester haven't made a similar headcount but they fear the total may be even higher. The twins in this picture are, from left: Joan and Linda Tappan, Jennifer and Dalta Jeremiah, Linda and Sheila Smylie, Thomas and Michael Greslie, Bill and Norman Mossontte, Gene and Georgette Taggs, Shauna and Sheryl Lindquist, Judith and Jaquelyn Thimian, Susan and Sherry Chalem, Llona and Robert Lester, Irvin and Edwin Lucks, and Susan and Michael Connell."
