Description
Six women prepare for an evening concert. To the left, a woman brings in a tall candlestick to add to another already lighting the scene, while beside her a woman in green sits holding a cup. In the center panel an attendant bring in an ichigenkin, a type of plucked, fretless zither. Facing her a woman in blue prepares to play, sliding the rokan (a tubular device similar to a guitar slide) over the middle finger of her left hand. Behind them a basket holding a flowering sprig of wisteria sits on a table. To their right, two women before a screen painted with bamboo stalks chat; one holds a covered dish in her hands
