Compton, center, vice mayor of the city of Burbank, presents plaques to pilots Joe Pfiefer, left, and Clair Loe, both of Porterville, for their participation in the Silver Wings Transcontinental Air Relay Race. The race was held in commemoration of Robert G. Fowler's record-setting cross-country flight in 1911. The celebration was held Saturday and Sunday at Lockheed Air Terminal, Burbank."
