Don Vincent de la Osa acquired title in 1851 to Los Encinos Rancho where this house stands and is credited with building the nine-room adobe. It was a popular rest place along the highway called El Camino Real (now Ventura Boulevard). It was unoccupied in 1936 except for a caretaker. Photo dated: June, 1936.
