Photograph was edited for publication purposes The MacArthur Memorial Bible Church was later renamed the Calvary Bible Church located at 1101 S. Main Street, Burbank. Photograph caption dated August 8, 1964 reads, "By means of cut-outs of animals, children, flowers and other objects, Miss Muriel Hersom, teacher and authority on lip reading and sign language methods, teaches young children who are deaf or hard of hearing how to communicate. She holds their attention and relates a Bible story orally for them to lip read. Above, Ronnie Hays, left, Lisa Armstrong, center, both of Burbank, and Danny Holmes, Sun Valley, make a crown with colorful designs while Miss Hersom assists. She tells them stories in the special class inaugurated this summer in the MacArthur Memorial Bible Church's daily vacation Bible school. The school will continue through next Friday. Sunday at 9:45 a.m., during the regular Sunday school hour, Miss Hersom will begin the first of such type classes for deaf children which will be held weekly in the church school, 1101 S.
