Description: Photograph of "Umbragraphic Landscape #1," as shown at "Ken Gonzales-Day: Physiognomy and the Love of Mankind" at Steve Turner Contemporary in Los Angeles. Piece is a representation of Death Valley sand dunes drawn in forehead contours. In this series Gonzales-Day explores the physiognomatic theories of Johann Lavater, as well as the nature photographs of Ansel Adams and "Group f.64."
