Description
Photograph caption dated March 13, 1962 reads, "What to pack a problem for history-making trip. Wrangler Ivan Conners helps 'King Cotton' prepare for flight." King Cotton preparing for his trip to Hawaii, where he will be ridden by Charlton Heston in the film, "Diamondhead." There were no suitable mounts in Hawaii so King Cotton became the first movie horse to fly. After arriving in Honolulu, he was loaded into a crate and onto a barge to cross the Pacific to an outlying island.
