Description
A circa 1978 card board bank is a replica of the Heilbron House located at 704 O street. The victoria era house, designed by architect Nathaniel Goodell, was built in 1881 by August Heilbron and was owned and lived in by the family until 1953. In 1953 the house was bought by Anthony Francis Dickiara, who first floor underwent minimal renovation and reopened as Restaurant Antonina, later became Antonina's in 1960 until it closed in 1971. In 1973 the house was then bought and restored by San Diego Federal Savings and Loan and opened as one of their Sacramento branches. In 1982 San Diego Federal became Great America Federal Savings and Loan until 1990's when it was purchased by Wells Fargo. In 1992, Wells Fargo donated the building to La Raza/ Galeria Posada a Latino Center of Art and Culture that offered community gathering place that taught Latino, Chicano, and Native arts and education workshops. In 2003, the nonprofit relocated and gave the building to the California State Parks who based some of their offices out of it.
