Photograph caption dated April 19, 1965 reads, "Vandals set fire to the huge Pilgrimage Cross high above Cahuenga Pass shortly before sunrise services began in adjacent Hollywood Bowl. Tragic blaze was visible from much of Valley and Hollywood."
