Description
This is a photograph of "the rooftops of Chaochow [Swatow Vicariate]. The houses of this region and of the new Maryknoll Mission are more ornamented than among the Cantonese. The house in the center foreground [with the wash drying in the courtyard] has it's roof trimmed with broken bottles against thieves."
