Description
Photo source: Christmas 1916 Monrovia Daily News. Henry Gierlich came to Monrovia in 1905 worked for H. C. Miller, city engineer, then became city engineer under William McClymonds in 1906, was appointed deputy city engineer on October 14, 1907, and on November 25, 1907, became city engineer. From 1917 to 1922 he also served as water superintendent, street superintendent, and purchasing agent, holding all of the positions at the same time. Some of the time he also worked as city engineer for other neighboring cities. John L. Wiley, History of Monrovia, 1927, p 251-252.
