Description
The Summer 1994 Sports Report from The San Jose Sports Authority Newsletter cover story: "What a Kick! : San Jose Awarded Major League Soccer Franchise" features announcement that MLS will make its debut in April 1995 in the United States. 22 American cities were vying for 12 berths. Seven total cities were selected in the first round including San Jose; Boston; Columbus; East Rutherford, New Jersey; Los Angeles; Uniondale, New York; and Washington, D.C." The article noted that the Quakes averaged 15,000 fans per game during the NASL years at Spartan Stadium.
