Description
An issue titled as: Traditional Japanese therapeutics practiced at Minidoka. It describes therapeutic treatments widely practiced in Japan that have been carried over to the United States. The described treatments are: Hari Treatment (Acupuncture or needle treatment); Mogusa ( lioxa) Treatment (burning punk on vital parts on the body); Anrna Treatment. The collection contains material used by Carey McWilliams in writing the book, Prejudice: Japanese Americans, symbol of racial intolerance (Little, Brown, 1944). It includes U.S. War Relocation Authority records, confidential reports, bibliographies, clippings and compilations of articles, legal papers, correspondence between McWilliams and Japanese American evacuees, relocation camp newspapers and other publications, two copies of his book, and five copies of the 1994 videocassette (40 min.), Something Strong Within.
