Description
Photograph of Antelope priests performing ceremonial ablutions at Oraibi, ca.1900. Four priests, 3 men and one woman, are seen here either sitting or kneeling in order to perform the ritual. The man on the right appears to be washing his face using water from a large bowl. One man, with his back facing a cup, appears to be staring at a wooden fence a few yards away. Next to the fence is a wall constructed of stones. The area where they sit is littered with rocks and small light fragments (bone chips?).
