Full-length portrait astride horse.
Born Hobart Van Zandt Bosworth in Ohio in 1867. Worked as sailor, including whaling in the Arctic; tried ranching in Southern California and Mexico. Began work in theater in San Francisco's California Theater; went on tour; worked in New York, Arizona. Entered motion pictures in San Diego in 1908; developed career including acting, directing, writing screenplays; formed his own company, Hobart Bosworth Productions Co., in 1913, producing films based on Jack London's stories. Died in 1943 in Glendale, Calif.
