During Peter Drucker’s talk entitled "The Expanding Leadership of Mid-Sized Organizations" he discusses why mid-sized companies have excelled and what they require to maintain their competitive advantage. During his lecture, he talks about: multinationals, the growth of imports, Boeing and General Electric, highly specialized mid-sized companies, the unpredictability of foreign exchange, employment growth in medium-sized companies, health care plans, training programs of big companies, taking control of one’s career because of lack of job security, knowing one's strengths, putting one's marriage and family before career, the equality of business associates, family members working in one's business, working in a world market, and the growth of businesses in comparison to hospitals, universities, and governments. During the question and answer session, Drucker answers questions from his talks "The Emerging North American Common Market" and "The Expanding Leadership of Mid-Sized Organizations." Drucker addresses the following: Mexican social innovation, maquiladoras, the synergy between highly developed, developed, and developing countries, the lack of job security in the job structure in the United States, the role of schools and employers, metropolitan advantages, the overspending of governments, and the Japanese as agricultural buyers.
