Ducks and ducklings captured in the lake at Westlake Park, later to be renamed MacArthur Park in honor of General MacArthur. Caption reads, "Photo shows mallard ducklings taking one of their first swims among the lily pads in Westlake Park. All of the small birds in the photo since have been killed by older ducks, swans or seagulls, according to Harry Gambichler, who has written to city officials calling attention to the 'murders in the park.' He suggests a coop to protect the young birds from the older ones." Photo dated: May 11, 1938.
