Description
Photographic portrait of Simon Nordlinger, a Los Angeles jeweler, ca.1900. Mr. Nordlinger is pictured from the chest up in profile, facing to the right. He sports a long, grisly goatee while the top of his head is cleanly bald, bordered by swaths of hair over each ear. He wears a suit with what appears to be a plaid pattern on it. His brow obscures his eyes in shadow. Nordlinger's advertisement appears in the first (1872) city directory of Los Angeles City and County at 3 Commercial Street, Los Angeles. The firm later became S. Nordlinger & Sons (who were Louis S. and Melville Nordlinger). Born 1841 in Alsace.
