This photo shows a huge cross being lifted by a crane, and men standing on a scaffold-like platform at the top of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angeles' campanile, awaiting its arrival. The Campanile (Italian for "bell tower") rises 156 feet and is topped by the 25 foot cross. At 10 feet per story, the tower is over 15 stories high. Architect Professor Rafael Moneo designed the upper portion of the Campanile so that different numbers and configurations of the bells can be seen from each of the four directions. Photo dated: December 19, 2001.
