Description
This Oral History interview is with Christian Scharff the son of Hanns Scharff (1907-1992). Hans Scharff during WW2 was known as the Master Interrogator for his ability to gather information from American Pilots for the 8th and 9th Air Forces. His techniques did not involve torture or deprivation. Instead he used friendliness and a web of information gathering tools to make the interviewee feel that Hanns Scharff knew everything about the pilot and his unit any way but wanted to clear up a few things. Interviewing hundreds of downed pilots his techniques are today used by our FBI, CIA , police and other intelligence agencies around the world. About half way through the video is a film of Hanns Scharff speaking to a group of military historians in 1984 at the Grand Rapids Michigan "Open Mess".
