Description
'My backyard [on Golden Meadow] before housing development of PVE. As a child, I used to wander the fields. I don't remember them being farmed, but I was told that the fields were farmed at one time.'
Local History Center Open House, January 16, 2016. Your Story is the Peninsula's Story, Peninsula Center Library, Rolling Hills Estates, CA.
From Richard Kawasaki, January 16th event attendee: 'I realized when I saw the photo of the kids playing in the backyard that I had talked to the donor at the January event. She lived on Golden Meadow which backs up to PVE. The land behind the fence is my grandfather's first farm in PVE. The road to the fields was so steep they needed to drive up in reverse. When first opportunity arose he moved lower and nearer the main road. I understand the Kadonada family and the Sakamoto family may have leased the area after my grandfather.'
