Description
Negative created in the Santa Maria Valley is an image of SMVRR locomotive 205. The Santa Maria Valley Railroad purchased this locomotive from the San Joaquin and Eastern Railroad in 1933, and it stayed in service until 1950. SMVRR began purchasing General Electric diesel locomotives in 1948. This locomotive was donated to be a public display at the Santa Maria Fairgrounds. In 1983, after deteriorating and becoming a safety hazard, it was donated to a group in Oregon to be restored.
