Photograph of exterior view of California State Normal School at 5th Street and Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, ca.1885. A two-story brick building with a clock tower in front can be seen at center on top of a grass hill. A short stone wall surrounds the grassy lawn in front of the school, while a pathway and road lead up to the building. The wrought iron gate is open, and several trees and plants can be seen in the yard. Later the site of the Los Angeles Public Library.
