Description
Photograph of the Mission San Miguel shown from the rear, with pigs, ca.1900. In the left foreground, a large pile of dry branches appears to be the beginnings or remnants of a campfire, behind which a man in a vest and hat can be seen with his hands on his hips standing in front of the one-story section of the adobe mission. The leftmost portion of the building seems to have collapsed or is under construction, lacking the back wall and roof, while the other portions appear to be in disrepair, their roofs sagging inward. Farther right, two pigs can be seen grazing in the dusty ground. Farther back, two horses can be seen hitched to a post.
