Description
Photograph of a view of canal dredging in Venice, showing a steam shovel on a barge, ca.1900-1909. A barge sits to the right of center in the waters of the canal, a large steam shovel arm protruding from its bow. The arm reads "Built by the Marion Steam Shovel Co. Marion, O". Several men stand on the barge near the shovel arm. The free end of the shovel sits in a pile of dirt on the far side of the canal. Vegetation can be seen on the near bank, while open land sits on the far edge.
