Photograph was edited for publication purposes. Photograph caption dated February 14, 1956 reads, "Dave Davis, the highly regarded prepster, shows the form and power that experts feel will carry him to many records this season for his high school track team. Davis unofficially already has bested the existing prep record of 62 feet, 5 1/4 inches in practice tests with a Herculean put of 62 feet, 10 inches. He gets his first varsity interscholastic test March 9 when Canoga Park meets John Burroughs High. In the above pictures, poised for a toss, he goes through the action of getting the 12-pound ball out there a long way. In the two pictures at the left his back is to the point where he'll throw. He starts, whirls in that direction and in the other three pictures is shown putting and following through." Davis is pictured with the ball on his shoulder.
