Description
Information from typed notes with the control panel: Main Control Panel for IBM 370; controls for the mainframe of a computer system that operated the San Francisco Mint, circa 1968. This panel ws essential to the workflow in the process of printing U.S. paper currency in this country. For several years, it controlled a computer system the size of half a city block at the San Francisco Mint. The control panel is all that remains of the old computer system which was dismantled when the Mint closed. The Mint was located at 5th and Mission Streets in San Francisco.
