Description
This circa 1930 postcard shows the Elk's Building on the north side of J Street, between Eleventh and Twelfth streets. Completed in 1926, most of the structure was completed by Sacramento-based contractors. Notable local contributors were Palm Iron Works (structural steel), Giddings and Whyte (excavation), Cannon and Company (brick), McLaughlin Sheet Metal Works (sheet metal for ventilation and heating), Gladding, McBean and Company (terra cotta), Hateley and Hateley (heating), Luppen and Hawley (plumbing), and Latourrette-Fical (sheet metal).
