Description
Members of the Physical Education Club at Pomona College. This photograph can also be found on page 149 of the 1932 Pomona College yearbook, "Metate" with this information: "The Physical Education Club is an organization for women interested in any phase of physical education activities, whether it be for professional training, playground, or social work. The club sponsors such activities of general interest to the school as the Councilorship Training Camp at Halona Lodge, Idyllwild, and organized swimming for women at the Y.M.C.A. pool in Pomona. The members of the P.E. Club are given clearer visions of the opportunities in the physical educaiton field from talks by such leaders in the movement as Miss Elizabeth Kelley, the director of our Pomona Women's Physical Education Department, and Miss Ruth Atkinson, head of the Women's Department of Physical Education at U.C.L.A. Then, too, the group enjoys social activities of various types such as those offered during the past school year, a winter week-end party at Halona Lodge, formal and informal dinners at Harwood Dining Hall, a roller skating party in Pasadena, and a week-end at the desert". Members are identified as: top row: Henderson, Bigelow, Cawsey, kelley, Bagley, Glass, Herrington, Bennett, Blanchard; middle row: Fisher, Lynn, Bell, Penman, Leonard, Page, Graeser, Livingston; bottom row: Hinckley, Walker, Durst, Lawrence, Covey, Cross, Langford.
