Description
Image of the south side of the Redondo Beach Hotel (also known as Hotel Redondo) in Redondo Beach, California.
"Redondo Hotel about 1890" and "138"--text, handwritten in pencil on verso. "Herve Friend --- Plaza Gallery 513 North Main, (Opposite Pico House). Los Angeles, Cal., And 205 1/2 South Main St. ..."text, printed advertisement for photographer on verso. Title and date transcribed from note on verso. An article in the Los Angeles Herald noted "Herve Friend, the photographer, has been doing some work for the Redondo company, in the last few days. An extra large picture of the hotel will be made and other new views taken" ("Redondo," Los Angeles Herald, September 4, 1891, page 6).
