This is a photograph of Fr. O'Donnell with "future priests of the Maryknoll Prepatory Seminary at Meixien. The lad in the center is sure that his baby brother witll also become an apostle to those of his own race." Rev. O'Donnell was born in Philadelphia, PA. He entered Maryknoll in 1921 and was ordained in 1932. He was assigned to Kaying in 1933, remaining until 1944, when he accepted a furlough. He returned to Kaying in 1946 where he remained until his arrest and eventual expulsion by the Communists in 1951. -- Maryknoll, The Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America, was founded in 1911 by Revs. James Anthony Walsh and Thomas Frederick Price to be the main mission outreach of the Roman Catholic Church of the United States. The first group of missioners departed in 1918 for China. Today Maryknoll Priests, Brothers and Sisters are missioned in over 30 countries around the world.
