Description
Two women in full dinner and evening dresses for November 1822. The woman on the left wears a red hat with yellow ribbon and white feather detailing. She is adorned with gold earrings and a pearl necklace. She is wrapped in a long, two-tiered, red cloak lined in white. The hood, the top tier and the hem are trimmed with white fur. Two white strings with tassels fasten the cloak around her neck. She wears a pair of white gloves and holds a white handkerchief. The wide, white lace hem of her dress can be seen beneath the hem of her cloak. She wears a pair of white shoes with a bow. The woman on the right is seated and has several white feathers adorning her head. She wears a triple strand pearl necklace with a pink and gold pendant. She wears another long gold necklace, which is pinned just above the waist. Her dress is white with fabric detailing on the bodice and sleeves. Two patterned epaulettes extend over her puff sleeves. She wears a pair of elbow length white gloves and holds an opened letter in her hand. Around the hem of the skirt is detailing with fabric winding around rosettes. She wears a pair of white shoes. The woman is seated on a cream colored, wooden chair with a red seat. The floors are tiled with circular designs in some of the squares. The plate has had some printed text from another source copied over the illustration from poor storage.
