Photograph article dated December 27, 1949 partially reads, "For three long minutes Sgt. Paul K. Miller and Officer John S. McElhinney put their lives on the block called duty to save life of an injured motorist. Racing to the scene of another accident, Miller and McElhinney came upon a collision where the driver was pinned to his car, stalled directly over a broken, gushing fire hydrant while a crackling live wire whipped crazily from a snapped power pole. Moving swiftly the officers radioed back to the Valley station to dispatch another police car to the original accident call and then both went into action. They ran to the stricken man, disregarding their own safely and comfort. In the crash the victim's leg and [sic] been broken and his body wedged between the steering wheel and the seat." Pictured are Sgt. P. K. Miller, left, and J. S. McElhinney.
