Photograph of a painting showing a view of Benicia (or Benecia) from the west, Solano County, California, ca.1853. A small pinnace wades in the water near the shore where several fishermen are fishing. A horse-drawn (or mule-drawn) wagon is driven by a man along the shores of the beach (at left). Along the coast are scattered houses of various sizes. Mountains are visible in the distance. Picture file card reads: "Benicia, named after the wife of General Vallejo, who was Dona Francesca Benicia Carrillo."
