Mary Pickford was a Canadian-born silent film actress, famously known as "America's sweetheart," co-founder of American Artists film studio, and one of the original founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Photograph caption dated April 14, 1939 reads "Mary Pickford is shown getting her button as official mascot of the Los Angeles Press Photographers Association from George R. Watson, vice president. She will donate a silver cup for the exhibit of news photography to be held at the Biltmore Hotel on April 21, 22 and 23."
