"Born in San Francisco on Jan. 20, 1921, and passed away Nov. 23, 2013, at 92 yrs. She was a professional: competition swimmer-pioneer women's surf boarder-actress with Ester Williams movies-played the harmonica since she was 9 years old (83 years)-produced many water pageants in Hawaii and around the U.S.A.-held many swimming records when she was younger. She was in the 1940 World's Fair. Betty went to the Presidio Jr. High in San Francisco. When she was in 7th grade, Jane Turner was in 9th grade. Jane later moved to the Los Angeles-Hollywood area, became an actress and changed her name to Lana Turner. Betty was a competitor swimmer at the Fairmont Hotel Swim Team in San Francisco from 1936-1939. She was in Billy Rose's Aquacade, Treasure Island, in the San Francisco World's Fair-1940. She was in 5 of Esther Williams' swim movies as a professional swimmer in the following MGM movies: from 1943-1950: 'Bathing Beauty'-'This Time for Keeps'-'On an Island With You'-Neptune's Daughters'-'Pagan Love Song.' Betty was a swim instructor at Pepperdine College, Los Angeles-1945. Was a professional swimmer in Larry Crosby's water shows in Texas and Los Angeles-1946. Director of Frank Foster's Aquacades at Las Vegas hotels-1946. Swam in Buster Crabbe's Aqua-Parades, 1947-1948, and in 1949 toured the United States, Canada, and the Hawaiian islands in 1950. She stayed in Hawaii for around 10 yrs. In Hawaii, she was a swim instructor at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel-Waikiki Beach-1950. Swim and surfer instructor at the Out-Rigger Canoe Club at Waikiki from 1950-1951. Director of first all Hawaiian Aquacade in conjunction with Honolulu's Aloha Week-1951. Swim instructor at Edgewater Hotel-Waikiki, Spring 1952. Betty's mother was Gladys Fournier, who graduated from SAMOHI [Santa Monica High School] in 1920." complete;
